On November 18, 1909, the last volcanic eruption on the island of Tenerife took place: the Chinyero volcano, a volcano that lasted barely 10 days.
It is said that the faithful carried the image of Christ in a procession, praying for the lava to stop, and according to tradition, the eruption ceased afterward.
Since then, every year in November, a commemoration of the events during the Chinyero volcano eruption is held with the supplication of the Holy Christ of the Valley.
