Challenge La Orotava 2-2

You've succeeded!

The Canary Islands Dragon Tree is shrouded in a halo of mystery, connecting it to Greek mythology and the myth of Hercules and the Garden of the Hesperides. According to legend, in this garden grew trees bearing golden apples, symbols of immortality, guarded by the Hesperides nymphs and the dragon Ladon.

The Dragon Tree, with its unique appearance and reddish sap known as “dragon’s blood,” has been associated with this myth. The legend tells that when Hercules killed the dragon Ladon as part of his Twelve Labors, its blood spilled onto the earth, and from it, the first dragon trees were born—trees as long-lived and resilient as the mythological creature itself.

In this way, the Canary Islands Dragon Tree is not only associated with the extraordinary nature of the Garden of the Hesperides but also with the idea of resilience, immortality, and mystery, characteristics it shares with the story of Hercules and his legendary feat.
